This youth music event is run by our SRC at Mullumbimby High school on the 15th of June this year. We gained financial support from the Byron Shire Council when we successfully won a "Small Changes" grant in late 2017. We are now seeking extra support from local business and the community.
The festival will be held on the evening of Friday 15th June 2018, and will utilise the school's hall and sound equipment. Please note that this event is not an official high school event, but rather an initiative of its students, with support from our school.
The youth music festival's purpose is to provide an opportunity for talented Byron Shire youth (aged 12-18) to perform in front of a large, friendly audience, and gain experience and recognition from the community. We hope this will help enable them to progress their music career. At the same time, we hope to provide good quality entertainment for members of the community (all ages) and a fun festive environment. We will also be raising gold coin donations for the Chrysalis program, a prevention based youth development and support group for young women in local high schools.
We hope that a successful festival will help prosper the amazing musical culture of the shire by focusing on the next generation of performers, and establish it as an annual event.
